Pawame

Clean Tech | Kenya

What they do:

Pawame is transforming the lives of individuals and entire communities, starting with modern energy access. Their solar home systems are capable of leapfrogging traditional power lines and offer an innovative, affordable rent-to-own, pay-as-you-go business model.

Why we invested:

65% of the Sub-Saharan population lives beyond the economic reach of on-grid electricity representing about 480 million people or 100 million households. Pawame aims to use its PAYGO platform, customer relationships and data to offer life-changing products and services like electrical appliances, micro-insurance, education loans, and remote health services.

Founding Team:

Alexandre Allegue is the Co-Founder and Chairman. He has 13 years of experience in entrepreneurship and solar energy. Before he established Pawame in 2015, Alexandre co-founded and managed Sun and Life, a leading solar energy business in the Middle East that operated in Saudi Arabia.

Majd Chaaya is the Co-Founder and COO. Majd brings nine years of experience in process improvement and quality systems. Before starting Pawame with Alexandra, he worked as a quality systems specialist at INDEVCO in Saudi Arabia.

Maurice Parets is the CEO with 15 years of experience in sustainable energy and consumer products. Before Pawame, Maurice was the head of business development at Nawah Energy which was part of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation.
